Barbra Banda, arguably the best player in Africa, will miss the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) after reportedly failing gender eligibility tests. Banda starred in last year’s Olympics, scoring hat tricks against the Netherlands and China. The BBC reports that Banda was “taking medication to help reduce her levels of testosterone which are naturally overly high.” AWCON doubles as World Cup qualifying for the continent.
