The Washington Spirit successfully appealed a red card issued to goalkeeper Aubrey Kingsbury in its match against Seattle Reign FC last Sunday. The appeal was reviewed by the league’s Independent Review Panel who determined that Kingsbury had not denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. The red card was issued for a hand ball in the first minute of second-half stoppage time. The Washington Spirit lost the match 1-0.
