Washington Spirit players released a joint statement Tuesday calling for Steve Baldwin to sell his stake in the team to Y. Michele Kang: “the person we trust,” they wrote. The statement says Baldwin did not directly reply to their private letter. “This is not a fresh start,” the letter says, criticizing Baldwin’s promise to step down as CEO but leave hand-picked club president Ben Olsen, who has “virtually no experience in the role,” in charge.
