The Washington Spirit are poised to sign Paraguay teenager Claudia Martínez, according to Jeff Kassouf of ESPN. She will be the first-ever Paraguayan player in the National Women’s Soccer League. Martínez, who just turned 18, has seven goals in six appearances for Paraguay, and is joining from Club Olimpia for a reported transfer fee of $950,000. According to ESPN, the deal includes a “sell-on fee due to Olimpia for any future transfer.”
