The U.S. women’s national team defeated Brazil 1-0 to win the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Mallory Swanson scored the team’s lone goal in the 57th minute. It is the fifth gold medal for the USWNT, which also has four FIFA Women’s World Cup titles. Germany defeated Spain 1-0 on Friday to win bronze. Giulia Gwinn scored for Germany and keeper Ann-Katrin Berger blocked a last-minute penalty attempt from Alexia Putellas in stoppage time to defend the lead.
