On Monday April 29, U.S. Soccer and the Mexican Football Federation announced that they would remove themselves from 2027 World Cup consideration, focusing instead on a joint bid for the 2031 World Cup. In a press release, they explained that an additional four years would help to execute a more successful and impactful tournament in 2031. The 2027 World Cup will now go to either Brazil or a joint bid by Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.
