Jadeyn Shaw, who turns 18 in November, will join the NWSL through a discovery process on July 7. The league says it has the discretion to amend its policy requiring players to enter through the draft. Shaw trained with the Washington Spirit earlier this year and impressed, according to one source. NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman called Shaw “a special circumstance” requiring “flexibility“ and the league says its age-restriction policy remains in place.
