The Washington Spirit announced Wednesday that star rookie midfielder Croix Bethune would miss the remainder of the 2024 NWSL season with a knee injury. In a press release, the Spirit noted Bethune had suffered a torn meniscus while away from training last week, but recently underwent a successful repair surgery. In 17 games, the three-time rookie of the month notched five goals and 10 assists, matching the NWSL single-season assist record.
