Víctor Francos, President of CSD and Secretary of Sport, announced Friday that the government plans to summon Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales to give testimony in front of the Spanish Court of Arbitration in Sport and suspend him. The announcement followed Rubiales’ appearance in front of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) where he refused to resign from his position. He ended his testimony by saying, “Is a consensual peck enough to get me out of here? I will fight to the end.” Rubiales was called in front of the RFEF after being seen on international TV kissing Spanish midfielder Jenni Hermoso on the lips following the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.
