Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales apologized on Monday for kissing Spain women’s national team midfielder Jenni Hermoso after the squad’s 1-0 win over England in the World Cup final on Sunday. Rubiales was seen on international TV kissing Hermoso on the lips after she accepted her winner’s medal. Hermoso said afterward that she did not like the kiss. Rubiales apologized for his action that “has somewhat tarnished the celebration” of Spain’s first title.
