Multiple sources tell The Equalizer that San Diego Wave FC prefers Naomi Girma over Jaelin Howell with the No. 1 pick in Saturday’s NWSL Draft. Sentiment around the league and college landscape is that each is a franchise player in different ways but Girma would fit Casey Stoney’s preferred style of possessing out of the back. Sources say San Diego has plans to fill it’s current midfield void with more experience through other acquisitions.
