The Washington Spirit have signed Canada international and Tokyo Olympics gold-medalist Gabby Carle, a source with knowledge tells The Equalizer. Carle skipped the 2022 NWSL Draft and signed a one-year deal with Kristianstads in Sweden, where the season recently ended. Carle’s arrival in the NWSL reunites her with former Florida State coach Mark Krikorian, who is now the Spirit’s president. Carle could be a natural replacement for Kelley O’Hara (now at Gotham) at fullback.
