Rose Lavelle suffers injury setback, may not play NWSL before World Cup

Rose Lavelle may not make her return to the National Women’s Soccer League before the World Cup after suffering a setback in her knee injury recovery, OL Reign head coach Laura Harvey told The Equalizer on Tuesday. “Honestly, it changes all the time because she was really on track to be back, then she had a little bit of a setback… I would love her to be on the field tomorrow. I don’t think that’s gonna happen. I hope that we get to see her before the World Cup but honestly, right now I don’t know.” Ten days ago Harvey told media that Lavelle had returned to training with the team and was progressing well in her recovery. She did not train with the team on Tuesday. The midfielder has missed the last eight NWSL matches with a knee injury after picking up what coach Vlatko Andonovski described as “a little knock” during the U.S. women’s national team’s first friendly against Ireland in April.
