Midfielder Rose Lavelle underwent ankle surgery, U.S. Soccer confirmed on Tuesday. Lavelle, who plays for NJ/NY Gotham FC, will miss the U.S.’ January camp to recover from surgery. She last played in Gotham’s NWSL semifinal defeat on Nov. 16. “It’s just something that needs cleaning up and it was the right time to do it,” U.S. coach Emma Hayes said. “So, decisions were taken with a number of different people to do it now.”
