The Equalizer has confirmed that the NWSL changed contract term maximums ahead of the 2024 season. Free agents can now sign for up to five years — either a four-year contract with an option or a five-year deal with no option. Previously, the maximum term was three years with an option for a fourth. Currently contracted players cannot restructure to five-year contracts, however. The Chicago Red Stars announced a five-year contract with Mallory Swanson on Tuesday.
