The NWSL has fined 2022 expansion club Angel City FC $20,000 in cash and $20,000 in 2022 unfunded allocation money for violating the league’s tampering policy in regard to NJ/NY Gotham FC midfielder Allie Long. It is the first time the NWSL has announced a tampering violation. The Equalizer reported in August that sanctions can include fines, forfeiture of draft picks, and banning a team from hiring the person tampered with.
