The NWSL Championship is returning to the East Coast and Audi Field in Washington, D.C, The Athletic reports. The league declined to comment on The Athletic’s reporting but has scheduled a special announcement with the Spirit to be made from Audi Field on Wednesday, June 3. The 2026 championship game is expected to take place at the home of the Washington Spirit on Nov. 21. Last time the league finale was in D.C., the Portland Thorns won their record third championship, defeating Kansas City 2-0 behind a legendary score from Sophia Wilson (then Smith) and an own goal.
