Spain did not waste any time appointing an interim head coach for the Spanish women’s national team, after Jorge Vilda’s departure on Tuesday. Montse Tomé was named the first-ever woman coach of the national team. She was part of the 2023 World Cup coaching staff. The former Spanish player will coach her first match in the UEFA Women’s Nations League on Sept. 22, against Sweden. Four days later, Spain will face Switzerland.
