Mallory Swanson received successful surgery for a torn patella tendon injury, sustained in the U.S. women’s national team’s first of two friendlies against the Republic of Ireland on April 8, on Tuesday, the forward announced on her social media. Swanson, a key figure for the U.S., has not listed a timetable to return. The Chicago Red Stars player wrote that she was “in shock” and thanked fans for well-wishes.
