Sunday, Luis Rubiales, who was handed a 90-day suspension by FIFA as they investigate his conduct after the final whistle at the Women’s World Cup Final, announced his resignation from both of his posts in a letter on his social media. In the letter Rubiales accepted that waiting for the outcome of the FIFA investigation would not contribute anything positive to the Federation or to Spanish football. He also continues to claim his innocence and says that his family and people who love him have faced excessive persecution.
