Leif Gunnar Smerud has been named the interim head coach of the Norway women’s national team. He replaces Hege Riise, who was fired after Norway’s Round of 16 exit at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Gunnar Smerud coached the Norwegian team in 2016, along with other domestic teams and national sides. He is slated to take over until the end of 2023.
