The National Women’s Soccer League announced Thursday that Kansas City Current forward Kristen Hamilton was named MVP of the UKG Challenge Cup as voted by the NWSL Media Association and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. Hamilton played a key role in helping Kansas City win the central division for the second year in a row while setting league and club records. The forward tied her own club record with five goals scored in group play and became the first player in NWSL history to score a hat trick in the Challenge Cup in a July 22 victory over Houston. The three-time NWSL champion is also tied for the all-time tournament record for career Challenge Cup goals with 12.
