Kris Ward has been fired as Washington Spirit head coach, the club tweeted Monday. The NWSL champions are mired in a 15-match winless streak. The Spirit reached the Challenge Cup final in May but lost to the Courage and are 0-6-9 in the league since. Ward was named permanent coach late last year after a remarkable interim run during which the club did not lose a match on the field and won the NWSL Championship.
