North Carolina Courage forward Kerolin Nicoli will miss her team’s National Women’s Soccer League quarterfinal match-up against NJ/NY Gotham FC on Sunday due to an ACL tear in her right knee, the team announced on Saturday. As such, Kerolin has been placed on the season-ending injury list. The injury occurred during the Courage’s regular-season finale against the Washington Spirit on October 15.
The engine of the North Carolina attack, 23-year old Kerolin made 19 appearances, all starts, in the regular season. She was runner-up in the NWSL’s Golden Boot race this year, scoring 10 goals and assisting three. Those 13 direct goal contributions made up 45% of her team’s regular season goals in 2023. Kerolin was also a crucial part of North Carolina’s Challenge Cup title run, recording the game-winning goal in the championship match.
