Jess Fishlock injury not season ending

Seattle Reign head coach Laura Harvey provided a positive update Tuesday on midfielder Jess Fishlock after she exited the weekend’s game on a stretcher. The injury is not expected to end Fishlock’s career earlier than her planned retirement at the end of the season, as Harvey predicted a potential return after the summer break.

“I think the fear … was that this might rule her out for the year. I think we’re pretty positive that’s not going to be the case,” Harvey said. “So that was the best news we could have had. And I know Jess very well … her recoveries are often quicker than most. … We obviously want to make sure that we do it right, we get her back safely. I think the summer break is probably a blessing in disguise in regards to timeline, so we’ll see.”
