Former United States goalkeeper Hope Solo was arrested early Friday morning for driving while intoxicated and child abuse, according to multiple reports and per Winston-Salem (N.C.) police records. According to one report, Solo’s two children were in the car. Solo’s counsel released a statement on Twitter saying “that the story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest,” and that she will fight the charges. Solo was elected to the Hall of Fame this year.
