On Friday, former Houston Dash coach James Clarkson filed a lawsuit claiming that an investigation into his conduct “humiliated” him and his family and damaged his reputation with false findings. ESPN was first to report the lawsuit.
Those named in the lawsuit include:
- The National Women’s Soccer League
- The NWSL Players Association (NWSLPA)
- Law firms Covington & Burling LLP and Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP
- Lawyers Amanda Kramer, Mona Patel and Arianna Scavetti
Clarkson was initially suspended in April 2022, before the season began, because the investigation found that he had engaged in “discrimination, harassment and abuse.” After the investigation’s final report was issued in December, Houston did not renew his contract.
