FIFA and European Clubs Association (ECA) announced a compromise on Wednesday that will allow players to report to their national teams between June 23 and 29, four weeks ahead of the World Cup and two weeks before the July 10 release date. The new dates are “non-mandatory,” per FIFA. ECA had previously said clubs would not release players before July 10. FIFPRO and NWSL also took part in the meetings to address the calendar crisis.
