Catarina Macario will not return to Lyon, the club announced on Tuesday. Macario signed with Lyon in January 2021, forgoing her final year of college eligibility at Stanford. Her contract with Lyon expired this month. Multiple reports state that Macario will join English champions Chelsea. The U.S. international last played a competitive match over a year ago after tearing her ACL in Lyon’s final game of the 2021-22 season. She will miss the World Cup.
