The NWSL team in Boston is facing another hurdle in its 2026 launch plans as a trial begins this week concerning White Stadium. Scheduled to start on March 18, the trial will determine whether or not the planned renovations intended to make the facility a suitable home for the franchise, violate the state constitution. The prosecution is arguing that the land, which is under public trust, was transferred illegally to the Boston ownership group.
Included in the statement, BUSP said: “As Boston United Soccer Partners continues our long-overdue revitalization of White Stadium, we look forward to the resolution of all legal claims, as the plaintiffs’ allegations are not supported legally or factually, nor are their claims supported by legal precedent. Our team is thrilled to bring professional women’s soccer to Boston and to collaborate with the city of Boston on enriching the community through our joint renovation of a beloved neighborhood landmark.”
