After the scary incident that saw Angel City defender Savy King hospitalized on Friday after collapsing during her team’s match against Utah, the LA club released an update and statement from the team and her family on Tuesday. It explains that King received immediate care at California Hospital Medical Center and was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Saturday morning. An evaluation there discovered a heart abnormality, and King underwent successful surgery Tuesday to address it. Angel City said she is now “resting and recovering surrounded by her family, and her prognosis is excellent.” In the same statement, the team asked for continued respect for King’s privacy as she focuses on healing. King’s family thanked soccer fans across the country for their love and support as well as the personnel who immediately tended to King and her medical team.
