Fifteen Spain women’s national team players emailed the federation stating that they will resign from international duty if head coach Jorge Vilda is not fired, the latest in an ongoing standoff between players and a federation standing by Vilda. Players are unhappy with the environment created by Vilda, who has been coach since 2015. Spain’s FA denounced players, saying “those decisions do not fall within their powers” and sanctions could last two to five years.
