Heaps move a welcome reversal of recent USWNT trend

During Heaps’ previous tenure in the NWSL with the Portland Thorns, she was arguably the league’s best player and biggest star. Her return inspires hope for the league amid a wave of high-profile departures

Lindsey Heaps won’t arrive in Denver until June, but the announcement that she has signed with expansion Denver Summit FC through 2029 could hardly have come at a better time for the NWSL. The league’s continued growth by practically every conceivable metric has not stopped a stream of prominent Americans from relocating overseas.
