Lauletta’s Heat Check: Two teams stand out early on

Orlando and Kansas City are cruising. Chicago is drowning. Everyone else is trying to figure it out.

Two weeks into the National Women’s Soccer League season and only two teams remain perfect. On the other end, only one club is still in search of a point. Here’s how they stack up.

Separating from the pack

Orlando Pride (2-0-0, 6 pts; @ Gotham, 2-0):  The holders went on the road for the first time and handled Gotham FC, a side that only lost once at home in all of 2024. It was not the beatdown they put on the Chicago Stars in the opener, but it was a surgical, definitive victory. Prisca Chilufya hasn’t been fully unleashed yet, but if she really beat Barbra Banda in a preseason foot race, watch out when she gets some room to move.
