Emma Hayes, Lindsey Heaps working to develop a new role with the USWNT

The midfielder was a free-roaming attacker at the SheBelieves Cup, which may unlock a lot of opportunities for Emma Hayes when the USWNT have the ball.

In this year’s SheBelieves Cup, the U.S. women’s national team once again took center stage in a tournament they have historically dominated, winning on seven out of nine opportunities. This time, however, it was Japan who clinched the title, marking the first time since 2019 that the U.S. did not win the tournament.

Beyond the opportunity to face top-tier opposition, the competition also served as a testing ground for Emma Hayes to experiment with her squad, offering fringe and emerging players a platform to prove their worth.
