I had to pause to consider what had just occurred at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Here was Casey Krueger: 34 years old, fullback, mother, veteran of multiple knee and ankle injuries, seven days removed from going the full 90 minutes in the National Women’s Soccer League Championship, and a few days removed from a transatlantic flight. Here was this player, with all of those elements in the background, going another full-90 against England for the U.S. women’s national team, and playing spectacularly.
