The North Carolina Courage announced Monday that they have re-signed midfielder Denise O’Sullivan to a two-year contract extension on a guaranteed deal that will run through the 2026 National Women’s Soccer League season.

O’Sullivan, 30, just marked her seventh year with the Courage after being picked up off the waiver wire by North Carolina in 2017 following a season and a half with the Houston Dash. Currently the Courage’s leader in appearances and minutes played and a key figure in all the club’s seven NWSL trophies to date, O’Sullivan has been team captain since the start of the 2023 season.

In talking to reporters following the announcement, O’Sullivan revealed she was about to take a flight to Germany to join a new club after being waived by Houston back in 2017 before her life changed in a big way when the Courage claimed her.
