You may be familiar with Kansas City jazz or even Kansas City BBQ. But over at CPKC Stadium, they’re cooking up something a little different: Kansas City Soccer.

What exactly does that entail? Well, it’s a bit of an enigma.

If you ask Kansas City Current coach Vlatko Andonovski, it is “resilient with flair” and “literally in people’s faces.”

If you ask a Kansas City player like forward Alexa Spaanstra, it’s “connected” and “creative.”

“When you watch us play, [it’s] the tenacity, the aggressiveness, whether that’s defending or getting a last touch in,” she said after practice last week. “We can come at teams in so many different ways.”

In a more tangible sense, it has translated into the National Women’s Soccer League’s longest unbeaten streak dating back to last season. It has also resulted in a spot atop the table midway through this season, ahead of a big matchup against the Orlando Pride on Saturday.
