Twelve years ago, the National Women’s Soccer League debuted with a match between FC Kansas City and Portland Thorns FC at a high school stadium in front of 6,784 fans. The eight-team league drew a median attendance in its inaugural season of 2,797 fans per match.

And now, just two weeks into the 2024 season, the league is set to make another big jump having welcomed a median attendance of 12,404 fans (not including Challenge Cup attendance of 14,241) across six games during its opening weekend.
