With free agency looming, Tierna Davidson had a decision to make. Would she stay with the only National Women’s Soccer League team she ever played for, the Chicago Red Stars? Would she move a little closer to her hometown with expansion side Bay FC?
With the exciting, but daunting choice ahead of her, Davidson was prioritizing one aspect of her decision above all others: where would she get the best player development in the best environment for this point in her career? Enter NJ/NY Gotham FC. With a deal through 2026, the 25-year-old defender feels like she found the perfect landing place for the next chapter in her already illustrious career.
“I was looking for a very strong coaching staff that had a very clear idea of what they wanted to do on the field, how they were going to execute that plan, and really a passion for individual player development along with the team development,” Davidson told The Equalizer. “I saw that in Juan Carlos Amorós and his staff.”
From their very first meeting, Amorós and his assistant Jesús Botello Hermosa came prepared with film, analysis, and in-depth explanations about how the 2019 World Cup champion would thrive at Gotham.
