Sources tell The Equalizer that NJ/NY Gotham FC has been eyeing Crystal Dunn’s free agency since last season and the New York native could be coming home.
In early November, the free agent announced her departure from the Portland Thorns, commencing speculation on her new club. The 2019 World Cup winner is unsurprisingly a highly sought-after addition for any team in the league.
Dunn, who grew up in Rockville Centre, N.Y., may very well be headed a little closer to home. If Gotham truly is her landing spot, the 31-year-old midfielder could be a strong addition to the National Women’s Soccer League champions. With the departure of Ali Krieger from the squad, adding another versatile, veteran leader to the team could be a nice fit.
Could the three-time NWSL Champion be looking for a fourth, this time with Gotham? Only time will tell. With the upcoming 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft, free agent signings will likely not be announced until after December 15th.
The Equalizer has reached out to Gotham FC for comment and is awaiting response from the club.
