In a collaboration with luxury brand Tiffany & Co., the National Women’s Soccer League has unveiled a newly-designed NWSL Championship trophy and MVP trophy. It is the first redesign since the league began play in 2013.
The NWSL Championship trophy will make its official debut at the upcoming NWSL Championship on Saturday, November 11, at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California.
The redesign is a welcomed change from the original trophy, which has long been criticized by many for its basic, uninspired, and exclusionary design.
The design was clearly a relic of a bygone era, a reminder of the burgeoning league with budgetary constraints that has grown tremendously over the last decade. An update was certainly a long time coming, and this time, the league made sure to pay attention to the detail.

According to the NWSL, the Championship trophy was “inspired by aerodynamic forces and the beauty of the game.” The the sleek base with a stylized air current-shaped motif intends “to evoke a ball in motion.” 24K gold vermeil and sterling silver accentuate the frame and are meant to convey “the prestige that has come to define the NWSL.”
“This new partnership with Tiffany & Co. is significant not just for our league, but for women’s sports as a whole,” said NWSL Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer Julie Haddon. “Our ability to partner with iconic brands like Tiffany reinforces the remarkable athletes who play in the NWSL. Their influence both on and off the field is deserving of a top-tier trophy and we’re grateful to our partners at Tiffany & Co. for their invaluable collaboration in creating a prize befitting the best women’s soccer league in the world.”
In addition to the Championship and MVP trophies, Tiffany & Co. will work with the NWSL to re-envision and create the remaining end-of-year awards beginning next season.
“We look forward to our continued partnership as we collaborate on reimagining the rest of our end-of-year awards, including the NWSL Shield,” said Haddon.
