Lynn Williams has not shied away from the realities of the “shocking trade” that brought her from the Kansas City Current to NJ/NY Gotham FC in January, but amidst the surprise, Williams found something she was not expecting at the time: a home and a family with Gotham.

“The trade and how it happened was a bit of a shock, but one thing I don’t talk about as much was how welcoming everyone at Gotham was when the trade did happen,” Williams exclusively told The Equalizer. “In those moments, I already had a feeling that it would be a good fit, but the best thing that has come out of it has been my teammates. They are incredible people, and I think you can see that translate on the field. We fight for one another and are really there for one another.”

For Williams, the transition to Gotham was seamless and she has nothing but praise for the team from the players to the coaching staff to the front office. “It’s been a pretty incredible transition and a light in my life that came out of an interesting trade and a dark place at the time.”

Now, Williams has decided to extend her initial one-year contract to a full three years with Gotham, keeping her with the team through 2025. For the 29-year-old striker, the decision was easy.
