How Diana Ordóñez could help Houston

On January 12th, the Houston Dash completed one of the most significant transfers of the 2023 National Women’s Soccer League season, acquiring Diana Ordóñez from the North Carolina Courage. Ordóñez enjoyed an exceptional debut campaign last year, breaking the record for NWSL goals scored by a rookie. Her 11 strikes placed her fourth overall in the league scoring charts, behind only Alex Morgan, Sophia Smith and Debinha.

In an effort to build on their first-ever trip to the postseason, Houston has brought in one of the most exciting young attackers in the game today. At 21, Ordóñez is already a proven finisher at the top level, and injects further potency into 2022’s third-highest-scoring team in the NWSL. Her arrival will likely have a profound effect on the system and tactical approach Houston uses this season.
