EURO 2022: Nations learn Group Lineups

History will be made when Northern Ireland takes the field for EURO 2022. One of three teams which qualified for EURO 2022 via playoffs — the others being Russia and Switzerland — Northern Ireland was drawn in the same group as England, making for an interesting matchup due to geographical closeness. The two teams just met in World Cup qualifying last week, with England prevailing, 4-0.

Below are the full groups for the 16 teams competing in next year’s tournament.

The Netherlands are the reigning champions of Europe, and were drawn into a group with Sweden, Switzerland, and Russia. Four teams involved have never made it past the group stage: Russia, Switzerland, Belgium and first-time participants Northern Ireland.

The group stage will end on July 18 and knockout competition begins with the quarterfinals on July 20.

UEFA World Cup Qualifiers

While dominant performances from teams like Sweden, the Netherlands and England helped further first-place leads in their groups, teams like Denmark and Spain have some competition right behind them, with goal differential being the only thing that separates them.
