Becky Burleigh: From hell no to all in

When Becky Burleigh said that she had not thought about or pursued the Orlando Pride head coaching job or any other professional coaching position, she really meant it.

“I will be the first to admit, a lot of people have asked me about turning pro and I think my answer was, ‘not no, but hell no,’” Burleigh said.

Yet there she was, answering the question during her introductory press availability three days after being named interim coach of the Orlando Pride.

“To find myself in this situation is pretty unique,” the longtime head coach at the University of Florida continued. “Even just getting to know this team, the soccer world is so small. We all know somebody that knows somebody. And that’s been really cool to feel a connection already without having been there more than a week.”
