Thursday brought another significant trade in the National Women’s Soccer League, with the North Carolina Courage sending Kristen Hamilton, Hailie Mace, and Katelyn Rowland to Kansas City in exchange for Amy Rodriguez and $60,000 in allocation money.
The Courage, arguably the most dominant team in the history of the NWSL, have won three of the last four league titles and three of the last four NWSL Shields.
In the past offseason, however, North Carolina also lost two major pieces of its core — Crystal Dunn and Abby Dahlkemper — and the Courage have struggled with wildly inconsistent results in 2021, entirely at odds with the commanding performances seen over their last several seasons.
So, how will the trade affect the team going forward?
