Scoring troubles remain for winless Thorns heading into knockout rounds

The penultimate match of the 2020 National Women’s Soccer League Challenge Cup’s preliminary round was a 0-0 draw between the Portland Thorns and OL Reign, another fixture where both teams’ offensive struggles took center stage. The Reign have a worse goal count than the Thorns heading into the quarterfinals — one goal in four games compared to two — but it is the Thorns who enter the quarterfinals as the only team without a a victory, and at the bottom of the table.
