The National Women’s Soccer League has come to agreements with CBS Sports and Twitch for three-year television and streaming rights deals. The partnerships will begin this season and will feature 87 NWSL matches through CBS, CBS Sports Network and CBS All Access. Meanwhile, Twitch will air 24 free matches in the U.S. during the regular season this year.
Twitch is also the official international streaming partner for the league, showing all 108 regular-season games, playoffs and championship.
According to the league, CBS will air the NWSL season-opener at Audi Field between the Washington Spirit and OL Reign on April 18 at 1 p.m., marking the first women’s professional club soccer game on a broadcast network. Also, CBS will air the NWSL Championship match on Nov. 14. A location has yet to be determined by the league. CBS Sports Network will air the two semifinal matches, which will air on Nov. 8.

We are excited to work with CBS with its rich history, tradition and storied innovation to utilize the power of their multiple platforms to reach more fans. We also are eager to team up with Twitch to showcase the brightest stars in the sport. These partnerships will continue to amplify the NWSL and its teams on a national and international stage.”
A broadcast lineup of announcers has also yet to be released by the league or CBS and Twitch.
“The addition of this extensive lineup of NWSL matches to CBS All Access is another important step as we continue to bolster our growing lineup of exclusive sports programming,” Jeffrey Gerttula, EVP and GM, CBS Sports Digital, said. “We’re very pleased to deliver these premier matches to our subscribers across all platforms and to help expand the reach of women’s soccer throughout the U.S. and Canada.”
Michael Aragon, SVP of content at Twitch, said that the company is looking forward to expanding their sports content with the NWSL.
“Their players are the greatest athletes in their sport from around the world and we are thrilled the NWSL chose Twitch as their home to build a bigger community of soccer enthusiasts,” Aragon said.
