Netherlands 3, Cameroon 1
Don’t let the scoreline fool you. The Netherlands and Cameroon was a tough, physical match. Netherlands players didn’t just cruise by the Cameroonians, who shocked the world when making it to the knockout round of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. However, this year, that feat might be slipping away from them, after picking up a 3-1 loss by the Dutch.
THERE SHE IS!

The first half was steady and physical, with the Netherlands not reaching the scoreboard until the 41st minute. Dutch striker Vivianne Miedema made history for her federation as the highest goal-scorer with 6o international goals. She’s only 22-years-old. Her second goal came in the 85th minute, which was the final tally of the match.
And just like that we're TIED!

The Netherlands also saw a goal from centerback Dominique Bloodworth to kickoff the second half. However, Cameroon didn’t remain scoreless, as Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene swayed between Dutch defenders and goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal. The Cameroonian used her head to score a wonder goal, but it wasn’t enough for Cameroon to pick up points.
Now, Cameroon needs to earn a win against New Zealand. Depending on how the Football Ferns do against Canada later today, it will be a battle between third place for the two nations.

Canada 2, New Zealand 0
New Zealand is still searching for their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup victory. Meanwhile, the Canadian Women’s National Team has punched their ticket to the Round of 16. This group stage hasn’t been the prettiest for Canada, but they’ve managed to get the job done. They did it again today with a tight 2-0 victory over New Zealand.
With the chances Canada had, it should have been a 6-0 victory. However, Jessie Fleming and Nichelle Prince were the only players to put the ball in the back of Erin Nayler’s net.
